Notes

A number of locos at this period are shown in Barclay records as invoiced to Reid Bros, Glasgow; Joseph Reid was a creditor and later Director of the company and it is believed this was a device to secure financial support prior to the actual payment for the locos. Due to this arrangement in some cases an invoice date differs from the actual dispatch date, causing an element of confusion.

There were no Barclay steam locos with numbers 600-635. Loco numbers marked * were built at the former Barclays & Co River Bank works.

Original records for this period are incomplete. Dates marked * are the invoice dates – these were usually the date of dispatch or the following day.
